Lockington
The Lockington Bowls Club held its annual presentation night on Thursday. A large gathering of members and guests was in attendance including life members Roy Perks and Alan Kauffman.
Lady president Anne Lowrie and club president Ray Hanson welcomed everyone and conducted the championship awards for the 2021-2022 season of bowls, culminating in a premiership shield in the Campaspe area division three pennant competition.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a life membership certificate to long-serving member Les Brereton.
President Ray gave a detailed resume of the involvement in bowls by Les Brereton.
His early foray in the sport began when he used to accompany his father, Jim Brereton, to bowls at a young age when the club was being established.
Les joined the club at 30 years of age and has been a member of two premiership teams and held the position of club president on two occasions: 2007-08 and 2013-14.
Les has been a club selector at several times, club pennant manager and hard-working member at caring for the surroundings and making the club image look impressive.
His attention to detail is indicative of his belief in making the club a great club to visit and play bowls.
Congratulations, Les, on receiving a well-deserved life membership.
Lady president Anne then proceeded to present the awards.

It was a big night for Steve Pavone taking home three championship trophies and it was pleasing to have his mother, Barbara Pavone, in attendance.
The club would like to acknowledge the support from the Tongala Catering Service in the presentation of such lovely meals on the night.
Lady president Anne also presented the club president with a cheque for the sum of $12,000, a result of fundraising by the Ladies Committee throughout the season.
Local members have been supporting district club tournaments. Ken Main featured in the Moama Bowling Club Mixed Pairs, winning all four games on the first day. Unfortunately day two of the tournament was a washout.
