The dust has barely settled on the 2026 Murray league season, but Cobram has already received a huge boost in its pursuit of a return to the top.

While the disappointment of the grand final defeat to Congupna no doubt still stings, the Tigers’ pain will be eased somewhat by the return of a former club best and fairest.
Adam De Cicco will call Scott Oval home once again in 2027, with the gun on-baller set to pull on the yellow and black for the first time since 2022 while also taking up the role of senior assistant coach.
A Murray league star after crossing to Cobram in 2018 from home club Leitchville-Gunbower, De Cicco’s pace and tackling ability immediately stood out, earning the club best and fairest in 2019, as well as a top five finish in the league best and fairest and a spot in the Team of the Year.
Making the move to the GVL in 2023, De Cicco’s transition to the speed and physicality was seamless, slotting into the Shepparton Bears’ line-up with aplomb and notching top five finishes in the club best and fairest on multiple occasions, captaining the side in 2024 and 2025 while also earning a fourth-placed finish in the league’s Morrison medal in 2024.
A grand final appearance in 2024 was backed up by another strong campaign in 2026, with the Bears again reaching the decider against Echuca, though De Cicco was unable to take his place in the grand final side, having left the field late in the fourth quarter of the preliminary final with a foot injury.
It is a big statement of intent from the Tigers as they look to reach the summit once more in 2027, and they have already had a trio of senior stars recommit to the cause.
Jack Murray, Kyle Coates and Matthew Demaio have all re-signed for next season, too, as the club continues to compete for top honours.
Ruby Higgins is set to make a Cobram homecoming in 2027.

The Tigers have received a huge boost on the netball court also, with Ruby and Isla Higgins returning to the Tigers in 2027 after a stint at Shepparton in the GVL, the former helping the Bears to an A grade premiership in 2025, having also played in the 2023 B grade triumph.
