Yarrawonga lawn bowler Claire Sanders was in the Australia A team which won the Silver Medal in the Mixed event at the Atlantic Senior Fours 2025 in Cypress early this month.

Twenty countries were represented at the December 1 to 12 event, held at Athena Beach Hotel Paphos, Cypress.

After seven days of competing against all teams in their section, both of Australia’s ladies and men’s teams were ranked third. Only the first and second placed teams advanced to the semi final then final.
In the next event, the Mixed, Australia was also represented with two teams.
Australia A consisted of Claire, Lisa Featherby and Scott Chamberlain (Qld) and Victorian Chris Young; Yarrawonga’s Anne Miles, Beth Quinlan (SA), Terry Warder (NSW) and Victorian Tony Schiavello comprised the B team.
Both teams won their section and advanced to the knockout rounds.
“Unfortunately, Australia A and Australia B were drawn against each other,” Claire said.
Australia A won 21/9. Australia A then went on to comfortably beat Norfolk Island 17/10 in the quarter final then thrashed Wales A 26/3 before going down to a particularly strong Scotland side in the grand final.
