The three-peat country rugby premiers launched back into Conference Division action at the weekend against Bendigo at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve, wasting no time in their pursuit of further Rugby Victoria silverware.
Shepparton crossed the try line four times en route to a 22-0 shutout in round one, with Benrock Falemai and Pou Tuiletufuga among the try scorers for the rampaging Bulls.
It proved the perfect platform for the new-look 2025 champions despite a slow start against the Miners, but it wasn’t just the senior men striding out on to the pitch in the storied green guernsey.
A senior women’s team has been rebooted for the first time in about a decade, competing in the Lindroth Development division, a pathways competition launched in 2026 and designed to foster sustainable women’s programs to one day compete in the Lindroth Cup.
The Bulls journeyed out to Monash University and left 57–0 winners, with head coach Moronae Silaga saying it was positive to see the club’s women’s team re-emerge.
“We have four of our under-18s, and we have some senior women come across to form the one team,” Silaga said.
“The first time we had a women’s team was quite some time ago, I think back in 2014 or 2015.
“That was a one-off, but this year we’re trying to develop our women’s team with the girls we have.
“It’s good to see we have the women’s team back in competition.”
The Bulls host their first home round of the season at Vibert Reserve this Saturday at 2pm against the Melbourne Chargers.
