Despite trailing at quarter-time Leitchville-Gunbower rallied against rival Lockington-Bamawm United in round six of Heathcote District Football League.

Travelling to Leitchville Recreation Reserve, the Cats got their day under way in emphatic style, nailing five majors in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, the Bombers were still in the mix, bagging three maximums of their own along with two behinds, the deficit was 10 at the first break.

Following a blistering start, LBU faltered in the second period and was unable to add to its score through the quarter, while the Bombers capitalised on the opportunity, tallying another three-goal effort to snatch a 12-point half-time lead.
The third term was a gritty affair, with both sides struggling to get any momentum on the attacking end, kicking one goal each and a sprinkling of behinds to make the Cats’ deficit 14 with a quarter to play.

Once again, LBU disappeared from the contest down the stretch, with the side unable to tick the scoreboard at all in the fourth quarter and was run over the top of by the Bombers, who dropped 7.4 on their rival’s head to run away with the game.
The final score was L-G 14.13 (97) to LBU 6.1 (37).

Tom Brereton led the way in front of goal for the Bombers, collecting a bag of majors, while nine other players got in on the action with a goal.
Meanwhile, usual suspects Thomas Leech and Jack Reiter both kicked a pair of goals for the Cats.

The win continues L-G’s steady return to form after slumping following the first round, with the side now holding firm in the finals picture in fifth position.
For the Cats, its the second time this season they have led by double digits at quarter-time and went on to lose the game, limiting their ability to climb up the ladder into finals contention.
