Another round of Picola District Netball League action has come and gone, with Picola United and Mathoura suffering heavy losses.
Picola United v Deni Rovers
The Blues started off the contest with some hope of keeping things competitive, as a low-scoring first quarter saw the hosts trail only 3-6 to the Rovers at the first interval.
Deni made a move in the second period, winning it 14-5 to open up a half-time lead and the visitor continued its momentum throughout the second half to record a dominant 54-21 victory.
The Rovers are the undefeated table leaders, while Picola sits in 10th, with two wins and four losses.
Also 2-4 is Saturday’s opponent, Berrigan.
Mathoura v Tungamah
Mathoura put in a spirited effort in the first half against Tungamah, but was ultimately overwhelmed by the Bears.
Scorelines of 8-13 and 14-23 at the first two breaks indicated the Cutters weren’t too far away from their opposition, but the Bears burst out of the half and didn’t look back, their dominant second half performance leading to a 52-18 final result.
Mathoura is yet to taste victory this season, its next match-up against the 4-1-1 Tocumwal on Saturday.
