The GV Suns have already made club history this season - but Callum Schorah has designs on securing immortality at John McEwen Reserve in what remains of the Victorian Premier League 2 season.

The midfield maestro’s displays have led many observers to conclude that he is the greatest player to ever pull on the navy blue jersey, such is the impression he has made during his time in Shepparton.
His talismanic displays at the heart of the Suns’ engine room have helped to catapult his side to the top of the VPL2, setting up a potentially season-defining clash against second-placed Malvern City on August 1.
Ahead of the trip to Melbourne for arguably the most eagerly-awaited fixture of the campaign so far, the 28-year-old spoke of his excitement as the club stands on the brink of clinching a maiden VPL2 title and automatic promotion in the coming weeks.
“It’s going to be a tough game,” Schorah said.
“We’ve got to treat it like any other game over the last 16 weeks and just turn up and play our game - not really focus on the occasion.
“If we just turn up how we play, we can beat anyone, last time it was 2-2 and we went a man down at our place for an hour, so if we can keep 11 players on the pitch and play our way, I feel confident.”
Originally from Liverpool, England, his career in the game has saw him ply his trade across three continents, having first emerged at Rochdale in his homeland, alongside stints in Sweden and the United States.
After moving back to the United Kingdom, he played for Chorley and the City of Liverpool, ahead of the transfer of a lifetime to the Suns in 2024 as he embarked on a new chapter down under.
During his fledgling days on the field, the Liverpudlian may never have envisioned becoming a legend at a club some 17,000km away from his roots down by the banks of the River Mersey.
However, the creative midfielder now considers the Goulburn Valley a second home, and he aims to represent the Suns for years to come.

“I was open to travelling and a friend back home put me in contact with Craig (Carley),” he said.
“Once I got speaking to Craig, it was a no-brainer for me - I wanted to get out here and experience the way of life.
“I’ve loved it, each year has got better and better, getting to know Shepp and know my way around.
“My family have been out here twice now and have got to experience it all - they love it too - the people are so nice and want to help you settle in.
“It’s made it very easy to settle in, I do see this as a second home, it feels like I’m back home in Liverpool sometimes as everybody interacts with each other.”
His contentment off the pitch has been reflected on it, with Schorah’s first year in navy blue seeing him earn the VPL2 Player of the Year Award, alongside sharing the Golden Boot that season.
Carrying on from where he left off in the seasons that have followed, there is no doubt that he has long-since established himself one of the first names on coach Craig Carley’s team sheet.
“I try and cover every part of the pitch and be available in attack and defence, wherever I can,” Schorah said.
“Once I’m on the ball, I try and create opportunities to put our attackers and wingers in positions where they can go and score.”
The upcoming round 23 clash against Malvern effectively serves as a six-pointer in the title race, with Schorah vowing to leave everything out there at Egan Lee Reserve as the Suns aim to take a major step towards the championship and promotion.
“On a personal level, it would be unbelievable (to gain promotion),” he said.
“From a club perspective, there has been progress over the last three years, as we were fighting to stay in the league in my first year.
“We got to the semi-finals of the playoffs and were unfortunate that time.
“To then be promoted would be amazing for everyone involved with the club.”
