On Friday afternoon, the league revealed the proposed match between Tungamah and Jerilderie had been cancelled.
Football and netball games were pencilled in to be played at Berrigan Recreation Reserve, due to the Victorian Government excluding the Murrumbidgee Shire area - where Jerilderie resides - from the border bubble.
However, the Berrigan Shire Council notified the league that they did not permit the scheduled matches to go ahead at the venue.
The clubs mutually decided to share the premiership points for each grade of football and netball.
In a league statement, the PDL said it respected the decision from Berrigan Council.
“The PDFNL is disappointed by this decision and timing, but respect that it is the wish of the Berrigan council,” the statement read.
“(The league) will consider the impact this decision will have upon the Jerilderie Football and Netball club's ability to participate in the remainder of this season and the use of Berrigan Council venues.
“(The league) sympathises with both Tungamah FNC and Jerilderie FNC, whilst acknowledging the effort by Berrigan FNC and that this decision was beyond their control and against their wishes.”
● Despite the cancelled match, six other games went ahead on Saturday.
Strathmerton continued on its merry way to the minor premiership with a resounding 110-point triumph over rivals Yarroweyah.
The Bulldogs flexed their muscles and claimed a 19.19 (133) to 3.5 (23) win.
Luke Sanderson was prolific around the ground for the victors, while teammates Simon Russell (three goals) and Tyson Sidebottom chipped in with support.
Yarroweyah's top performers were trio Shaun Greenway, Keegan Oliver and Andrew Jones.
● Mathoura has booked a ticket into finals footy with the most emphatic of performances.
In what was Indigenous Round and sponsors day at the club, the Timbercutters gave their supporters something big to celebrate - knocking off Deni Rovers by a hefty 98-points.
Josh Flight was airborne with eight majors, while Jake Ellery was deemed best afield for the Timbercutters.
Coach Darcy Robinson said while Mathoura's winning margin was an unexpected surprise on Saturday, he could not have been prouder of the way his group went about it.
“Obviously having two and a half weeks off and getting just the one training session in before playing, it was a pretty good result in the end,” Robinson said.
“Probably again, it shows the maturity of our group and how far they’ve come, to come back and get that result.
“Stop-start seasons aren’t ideal for anyone, but you put trust in the group that they are doing the right thing and keeping active and touching the footy.”
● Katandra has edged closer to the top eight following its demolition over Rennie.
The Kats, led by Cameron Calder and Jack Caia, breezed past Rennie to record a 54-point triumph.
Corey Hickford popped up with three goals, while Trent Herbert and Mitch Black chimed in with two each.
Waaia has issued a warning to the rest of the PDL challengers with a stunning 63-point drubbing over Berrigan.
The Bombers dished the fifth-placed Saints a 12.14 (86) to 3.5 (23) defeat.
Jesse Trower and Tim Belford were the standouts for Waaia, along with Charlie Burrows who booted three goals.
Berrigan's Zeke Carruthers and Will Robinson battled hard all day.
The result keeps Waaia one win behind the ladder-leading Bulldogs.
A fast-finishing Tocumwal got the chocolates over Katunga.
The Bloods booted 11 of the final 13 goals in the game to run out 30-point victors on their home deck.
Jacob Sampson starred with five majors while Drew Haebich enjoyed a stellar day with four to his name.
Kade Rowe was the side's top performer.
Xavier Thorp and Will Newman (three goals) flew the flag for the Swannies.
Lastly, Picola United handed Blighty a thumping 42.21 (273) to 2.0 (12) defeat.
Ben Gill had his kicking boots on and finished with 10 majors, while Taylor Beard (seven) and Hayden Beard (six) got in on the fun.
Blake Jorgensen kicked four goals and was United's best performer.
