It was a big statement from last year's runner-up, belting Seymour 18-114 to 0-56 on the road.
Although the opening rink was a tight affair - Tatura's Nick Tziros pipped Max Hammond 23-21 - Seymour never quite troubled the scorers in what was its first match since being relegated from division one.
Brendon Boyd's rink stunned Robert Brown with a classy 35-11 win, which was followed by Nick Boyd's 31-12 demolition and Peter Wallis’ 25-12 victory in the last rink battle.
In other division two action, Tallygaroopna powered past Mooroopna 16-116 to 2-80, Shepparton Golf was too strong for Hill Top 16-111 to 2-74 and Shepparton Park pounced on Kyabram to win 18-105 to 0-79.
● At division three level, Mooroopna started its campaign right with success against Shepparton Golf.
Both sides traded blows on the Golfers’ home deck, in what was an enthralling battle.
Mooroopna's Arthur Smith claimed the first rink win 25-21, but Golf's Brian McInneny bounced back to clinch the second 22-17.
That process followed in the next two rink battles, but Graeme Power's team was the difference with their impressive 31-15 triumph.
In the other games, Mooroopna Golf enjoyed a 14-104 to 4-78 win against Shepparton Park, Rushworth defeated Kyabram 18-99 to 0-72, while East Shepparton stormed to a 14-100 to 4-77 win against Dookie.
● Euroa upset reigning division four premier Shepparton Park 14-94 to 4-91.
Murchison recorded a 13-95 to 5-83 win against Merrigum, while Shepparton RSL went down 16-112 to 2-76 against newly-promoted Tallygaroopona.
Hill Top was superb in its 18-102 to 0-81 sweep of Avenel, while East Shepparton dropped one rink on its way to a 16-119 to 2-69 thrashing of Rushworth.
● Cobinabbin, Seymour and Stanhope all enjoyed first round wins in division five against East Shepparton (16-88 to 0-69), Mooroopna Golf (12-79 to 4-75) and Hill Top (16-91 to 0-45), respectively.
● Rounding out the first round's results are the division six East and West competitions.
In division six East, Shepparton Park defeated Euroa 16-88 to 0-61, and Avenel destroyed Nagambie 16-113 to 0-43.
Meanwhile, Shepparton Golf (14-68 to 2-64), Tatura (14-80 to 2-57) and Hill Top (15-82 to 1-55) recorded strong wins in division six West.
