Kyabram returned to the summit of the Goulburn Valley League today.
The Bombers exorcised the demons of last year's heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Shepparton on the same hallowed turf of Deakin Reserve, only this time it was Echuca standing in the way of perfection.
The Murray Bombers put up a good fight, but in the end were never in the same weight division as a Kyabram outfit with the pain of its only loss since the 2015 decider seared into the back of its brain.
Eventually the margin of victory settled at 22 points, giving the Bombers a remarkable three undefeated seasons in four years and drawing to a close the illustrious coaching career of Paul Newman.
For their respective parts in the triumph, Pat Wearden (AFL Vic Country), Jake Reeves (Wilf Cox) and Mick Mattingly (Barry Connolly) claimed extra medals during the presentations.
But this was, from top to bottom, a genuine team effort from the best team in GVL memory - living or otherwise.
