With an outstanding debt owed to Kyabram District League, the Cats have turned to crowd-funding for assistance.
A GoFundMe page titled, ''Save Ardmona Football Netball Club'' has been set up to help raise funds and reach a $100 000 target.
So far the page has raised $1150 since it was created five days ago.
The amount of money owed to the league is uncertain.
As well as crowd-funding, the struggling club is also participating in the Toyota Good for Footy raffle, where all of the raffle ticket proceeds go towards the club.
Ardmona treasurer Teisha McCoy explained the stark future that lies ahead — due to the club's financial position.
"The club is currently faced with the possibility of being refused affiliation within the league for 2020 due to our financial position," McCoy said.
"This is devastating news for our club, especially since we are heading into our 100th year as a club.
"The last thing we want is for the club to fold."
A recent ultimatum from the league comes off the back of lacklustre performances on-field and ongoing financial trouble off it.
In round 12, the Cats' senior footballers suffered a 401-point loss at the hands of Stanhope.
League president Fraser Kerrins said the league had been working closely with Ardmona to help keeps its doors open.
"We've been working with Ardmona to help improve the club's finances and governance and help them remain viable for some time now," Kerrins said.
"And that work continues today.
"But at the end of the day, they have an outstanding debt that needs to be paid.
"And unfortunately, that debt was due last Friday."
Kerrins stressed he "wasn't out to get Ardmona" which he felt came across in the description of the GoFundMe page.
"I feel that we (the league) have been very supportive of the club," he said.
It was another tough year for the Cats, with their senior and reserve footballers and A-grade netballers ending the season winless.
This season's woes come off the back of poor showings in the past five seasons.
Ardmona's senior footballers have not won a game since round 14, 2015, when they defeated Rushworth by 18 points.
In 2017, the senior outfit was relegated to the reserves for a brief period, due to dire performances, before returning to the fold that same season.
However, for all of their recent troubles in the senior grades, Ardmona's under-18 outfit finished the season with five wins and in 10th position.
Current senior football coach Tim Keegan — who has deep family ties with the club — said it had been a difficult time.
"It's been fairly gut-wrenching at times," Keegan said.
"We've got some good young kids coming through the ranks, a couple of 14 and 15-year-olds that have plenty of talent.
"And there's a lot of people who are working hard behind the scene."
Channel 7’s Sunday Night program is airing a story on Ardmona at 8.30pm this weekend.
