The Redeyes kicked 2.5 in the second term, but managed just three behinds in the other three, with the Bombers scoring at will at the other end to record a thumping 103-point win.
It left Waaia 3-0 and cruising in second place on the ladder, while last season’s top four side Blighty is absolutely reeling at 0-3, second from the bottom.
Bombers coach Matt Brown said his side’s display had been complete.
‘‘It was our best game of the year, score-wise, but also our previous two games we’ve only really played two, 2 good quarters,’’ he said.
‘‘It was our first full four-quarter display and I was really pleased.
‘‘The third quarter was great, our starts to the second half have been average the first two weeks. We put a fair bit of emphasis at half-time on playing some more good footy.’’
The tone was set early as Waaia kicked three goals to lead by 21 points at quarter-time and although Blighty got its game going, extended the margin to 35 at the main break.
But the Bombers were just warming up, flicking the switch and obliterating the Redeyes with 11 unanswered goals in the second half.
Leading the way was the ever-dangerous Mark Meyland with seven big ones, while Charlie Burrows (three), Daniel Clarke and Mat O’Dwyer (two each) all kicked multiple goals.
Aaron Shelton was best-on for Waaia along with Mitch Cleeland, who continued an amazing start to the campaign.
‘‘Mitch is playing centre half-back, he’s a sensational player, he’s been best-on, best-on and second best-on where you could make an argument he was best,’’ Brown said.
‘‘He just plays the game, he doesn’t overcomplicate things, he’s got to be averaging around 10 intercept marks a game.
‘‘We were happy with the whole backline on Saturday, Aaron Shelton and Aden McCredie were great too.’’
Brown also said the impact of his additions had been strong, but he had expected as much from a talented bunch of players.
‘‘We knew those blokes would fit in well if we had a good side around them,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s not like we went out and got 10 blokes, there were just those four or five blokes we targeted.
‘‘Jesse Webster has been super for us giving us first-use, Daniel Clarke brings experience and Tim Belford does too at half-back.’’
Blighty, on the other hand, is in great danger of losing touch with the competition’s leaders, slumping to 0-3 following losses to Strathmerton and the Deniliquin Rovers.
Its difficult stretch of games continues with Picola United this round before Katamatite the week after.
Kyel Bain kicked the only two Redeye goals, with Sam Singleton, Louis Clarke and Jarrod Andrews among the best.
