The Wombats were in total control against the Cats, kicking 10 goals in every quarter bar one, with Billy Ryan’s bag of 13 providing the platform for his side to run out 37.19 (241) to 4.2 (26) winners.
Ryan’s efforts earn him best afield honours, with teammates Jack Donnell (five goals), Zachary Cerrone (four goals) and James Ross (three goals) among the Wombats’ goal-kickers.
Tannar Cerrone and Nicolas Ryan were mentioned in the better players for Lancaster, with Ardmona pair Tyson Briggs (two goals) and Frederick Maclean the best for the home side.
●Undera looks to be an emerging surprise packet, with the Lions recording an emphatic 111-point win against league newcomers Shepparton East.
Reigning McNamara medallist Kaine Herbert was named best afield, with Shaun Wilson deadly again up forward for the undefeated Lions, booting nine goals in the 22.13 (145) to 5.4 (34) win.
Jai Simmie chimed in with two goals for the Eagles as he continued his great start with his new club and Andrew Lloyd was named best.
●Tallygaroopna defeated Nagambie in the grand final rematch by 39 points and further solidified its spot atop of the ladder after two rounds.
Tyson Sidebottom and Eamon Reeves (two goals) played a key role for the Redlegs, while Michael Shiels and Nathan Fothergill were named the Lakers’ best in the 13.13 (91) to 8.4 (52) loss.
●Avenel recorded its second win of the season, holding on to defeat Dookie United 11.17 (83) to 9.6 (60), but if it were not for inaccuracy in front of goals, the home side would have enjoyed a larger percentage boost.
The Swans led at every interval as Connor McCloy, Nicholas Goodwin and Kasey Duncan (two goals) all played a starring role.
United’s Kyle Tapscott (two goals) and Sam Bowmaker (three) were the better players for the away side.
●Violet Town was brought back down to earth hard and fast, copping a 90-point loss to the hands of Girgarre, after the Towners’ first round demolition of Ardmona.
Ash Kirchhofer and Ryan Butler (seven goals) were strong for the Roos as they picked apart Violet Town in the first half to lead by 70 points at the main break.
●Rushworth pulled off a 26-point win against Longwood, with Rowan Smith kicking three goals in a best-on performance.
Joseph Thompson and Tim Varigos (one goal each) provided some assistance in the 6.6 (42) to 2.4 (16) win.
