Kristopher Castle, 26, appeared in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 5, in what was a brief appearance.
Mr Castle is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Yarrawonga woman Kylie Sanders on Anzac Day.
The charge follows an incident where it will be alleged two people were involved in an altercation on Hargrave Crt, before Ms Sanders attempted to intervene.
He is also charged with making a threat to kill, and committing an indictable offence while on bail, on the same day.
In a separate incident, Mr Castle is charged with unlawfully destroying property — the side mirror of a car — in Shepparton on July 12, 2024.
He is also charged with failing to appear on bail on October 11 last year.
He has not entered pleas to any of the charges.
Wearing a black jacket and black pants, Mr Castle sat quietly in the body of the court on Thursday, supported by two women.
In court, prosecutor Kerrie Thomson asked for a longer than usual adjournment period on the charge of dangerous driving causing death as the brief of evidence was being prepared by police’s Major Collision Investigation Unit and a medical examiner report was required and they usually took 12 weeks to be completed.
Mr Castle’s bail was extended by the court.
He will next appear in court on July 4 for a committal mention on the charges of criminal damage and failing to appear in court.
He will next appear in court on October 8 for a committal mention on the other charges, which included dangerous driving causing death.
