Police said a white Holden ute, which was allegedly stolen from the Melbourne suburb of Altona last week, was driving on Wyndham St at about 12.45am.
Police tried to intercept the vehicle before the driver allegedly turned off the headlights and took off.
The Holden was then allegedly reaching speeds of up to 160kph on the Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla West.
Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device at the Hume Fwy on ramp at Broadford.
The two occupants of the car were arrested.
A 29-year-old man from the Melbourne suburb of Tullamarine has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, dangerous driving while being pursued by police, vehicle theft, possessing methamphetamines, possessing cannabis, failing to stop on police direction, dealing property suspected to be the proceeds of crime, drive in a manner dangerous, unlicensed driving and using an unregistered motor vehicle.
He was remanded to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 17.
A 24-year-old man from the Melbourne suburb of Sydenham has been charged with possessing methamphetamines and was bailed to appear at Seymour Magistrates’ Court in January.
