A 20-year-old Kialla man was arrested at his home shortly before 8.30am on Wednesday, October 29.
The man is the fifth person detectives from Taskforce Lunar have charged following a number of alleged incidents, including an aggravated home invasion in Craigieburn and a burglary in Broadmeadows earlier this year.
He has been charged with two counts of aggravated home invasion, recklessly causing injury and theft.
He appeared in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court for a bail application on Wednesday, October 29, and was remanded in custody to Friday, October 31 for a bail decision to be made.
The arrests form part of an investigation into an alleged organised crime syndicate involved in a range of offences including extortion and money laundering linked to the illicit tobacco trade.
On July 15 police seized a number of devices as part of the investigation and uncovered evidence of two alleged incidents on June 24, including an aggravated home invasion in Craigieburn and a burglary at a business premises in Broadmeadows.
Neither alleged incident was reported to police at the time they occurred.
Four Melbourne men have also been charged, including a 33-year-old Glenroy man who was charged with two counts of aggravated home invasion with an offensive weapon, two counts of theft, burglary and using a tracking device.
A 32-year-old Kalkallo man was charged with aggravated home invasion, burglary, theft and possess drug of dependence.
They were both remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in December.
A 36-year-old Keilor Downs man was charged with possessing a drug of dependence, and a 37-year-old Mickleham man was charged with two counts of aggravated home invasion, recklessly cause injury and theft.
Both men were bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in December.
The investigation into the alleged incidents and the organised crime syndicate remains ongoing.
