Alleged Benalla thieves sniffed out by police dog

Flown in: Furry detective Tall and his handler were deployed to a property in Benalla to help locate two alleged thieves on the run.

A Victoria Police dog was flown by helicopter to a property in Benalla to assist in locating two alleged thieves on the run.

Police were called to reports of suspicious loiterers on the morning of Tuesday, January 11.

It is alleged two men were loading stolen property on to a trailer.

They then allegedly fled on foot before police arrived at the property.

Flown to a Murray Rd property by the police Air Wing shortly after 7.20am, Tall found the two men hiding under hay in a hay shed.

With the help of Tall, the Benalla residents, aged 30 and 26, were arrested and are assisting police with inquiries.
