Suffering from anxiety and depression, tired and burnt out, I was on the verge of a third mental breakdown. Affected by a life consumed by self, grief and shame, I was exhausted and overcome by an intense nicotine addiction.
Convicted of sin and without hope, I opened my Bible to read the words of Mark 8:34: “When He (Jesus) had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, ‘Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.’
Afterwards, I attended St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shepparton and saw a large statue high and lifted up of Jesus, Crucified on the Cross. I never understood the meaning of Christ’s death until that day, when the Lord touched my heart and I realised what Jesus had done for me.
Repenting of sin, I believed the Gospel (The Good News of Salvation) and was forgiven.
Born Again of the Spirit — I trusted in the Blood Atonement and Finished Work of Jesus Christ on the Cross, including His Death, Burial and Resurrection — and was reconciled to the Father.
Romans 3:21-25 regarding ‘The Righteousness of God Through Faith’, helped me to understand that all (everyone) has sinned — and falls short of the glory of God. That by His Grace (Mercy) we can receive the Free Gift of Salvation — that is to be received by Faith.
Following, I met my beautiful wife, Jessica; and today am blessed with our son, Noah.
Since then, the Lord has called me to the Chaplain Ministry where I serve at the Kyabram P12 College, Mooroopna North Primary School and the Uniting Church in Kyabram.
All my life I felt completely and utterly alone.
Because of Christ, I do not feel alone anymore.
The Cross stands on the horizon of our lives — calling us by His Love — to Repent and Believe in the Gospel.
For today is the day of Salvation.
