Suggestions for the proposed $1.3 million pear:
Can it be made so the inside is furnished to put a roof over our people sleeping rough?
Can it have a percentage shown on the outside so people can see how much the grower is paid compared to how much the supermarkets sell it for?
Can there be a level to represent how much water farmers used to have to grow this wonderful produce compared to how much we have to use now?
Do we even still produce as many pears in the GV now, as a lot of orchardists I know pulled their trees out as they couldn’t afford to grow them?
Perhaps there could be tourist information at the base showing people what roads to avoid because of the many potholes in the area. Also, maybe suggest they don’t go to our award-winning KidsTown at the moment, as it has been neglected for many years and funds haven’t been a priority to keep it up to standard.
Please build it so it is safe, as our already overworked, underpaid, overwhelmed emergency workers are already pushed to their limits and don’t need any more patients.
Also, might be a good idea to make it fire-retardant because of the many disillusioned firies leaving the industry — there may not be a fire truck available.
Make it free so people struggling to put food on the table with the cost of living can see what $1.3 million looks like.
