Oral histories gleaned from great-grandparents, grandparents and parents are the most important historical legacy: the small dairy farm, situated only two miles from the Shepparton Post Office, fulfilled all the Storey family’s needs.

In the early years, cows were milked by hand and there was always a constant supply of fresh milk, cream, butter, eggs, vegetables, fresh meat, rabbits and fish.
The family not only bottled fruit and made jams, chutneys and preserves, but did seasonal work at the Shepparton Cannery as well as pick and grade fruit, peas and beans around the local orchards.
