Since 1992, the Furphy Literary Awards have been celebrating the role storytelling has in Australian culture.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said the awards continued to support creativity and storytelling across the Goulburn Valley.
“The Furphy Literary Awards encourage young people to use their imagination, find their voice and share the stories that matter to them, and I encourage students across our region to give it a go,” he said.
“These school holidays are the perfect time to get started.”
Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with the Furphy Foundation, La Trobe University and Goulburn Valley Libraries, is encouraging writers prepare their entries.
Prizes are available in each category, with first place receiving $300, second place $100 and third place $50.
