The Rotary Club of Seymour has once again shone a spotlight on local talent through its annual Writers Awards, a long-standing feature of the club’s New Generations program.

This year, primary and secondary school students were asked to respond to the topic: ‘Describe the most beautiful place in your extended area or neighbourhood/region. Why is it special and what is required to preserve it?’.
The theme inspired heartfelt entries from students across the region.

Chloe Graham from the Seymour Flexible Learning Centre took home the first prize in the secondary school category, while Spencer Turner, from the same school, achieved second place.
For primary school students, Beau Henery-Blades from St Mary’s College won first prize, and Alyissa Smith, also from St Mary’s, came second.
Rotary representatives praised the talented students for their creativity and insight.

“The Writers Awards have been part of our New Generations program for many years, and it’s always inspiring to see young people reflect on the beauty of their community and the importance of preserving it,” a Rotary spokesperson said.
After another successful year, the Writers Awards have reaffirmed its place as a cherished tradition, nurturing the next generation of storytellers.
Rotary encourages even more students to take part in next year’s competition, ensuring Seymour’s stories continue to be told.
