The winning tickets were purchased by Clint Hamlyn, who casually bought five tickets one day at work, placing each one in a different family member’s name.
To everyone’s surprise, the winner turned out to be his six-month-old daughter, Ellie.
“I returned the call from Richard a bit later after it was announced, and he was like, ‘Can I speak to Ellie?’” Clint laughed.
“I said, ‘Ellie can’t speak — she’s asleep, and she’s six months old.’
“It was a great way to start the new year.”

Ellie’s mum, Rochelle Hamlyn, added, “I’ve bought a ticket every year for the past 10 years, and this year I didn’t. Clint did — and we won!”
RCM president Richard Speedy said the raffle’s success was about more than just the prize.
“It feels good to give back to the community,” he said.
This year’s raffle raised an impressive $105,000, with 32,000 tickets sold.
Of that, $50,000 was raised directly by the Mooroopna Rotary Club, with $10,000 pledged to the Rotary District 9790 Bushfire Relief Fund.
The funds will support families affected by recent bushfires, including assistance with water supply and back-to-school essentials.
