More than five hundred people showed out to support Merrigum on Saturday for their community group’s annual fundraiser event.

The Wheels at the Gum Car & Bike Show saw 180 vehicles and 50 bikes taking part.
An organiser of the event Cam Scorey said it was the perfect day.

“There was perfect weather and lots of well behaved people. Well behaved. Everything ticked the box. There were no idiots. Everyone came together, we raised money, and people were happy. We got lots of good feedback,” he said.
“It was unbelievable just how everything seemed to almost fall into place. It took a lot of work, but the day ran pretty smoothly.”

Mr Scorey said the event continues to prove more successful year after year.
“This year was better than the last because people are coming back. There’s people that saw the first one in 2019 that come along again and they’ve seen the community grow and the new things that have happened in the town since the last one,” he said.
Webby made sure to represent the bikes on Saturday with his 1998 Harley Davidson, a Roadkill anniversary model.

Around $2,000 was raised over the weekend according to Mr Scorey.
