From Friday, June 6 to Sunday, June 8, Victory Hall in Tatura will come alive with colour and creativity as artworks from both local and interstate artists make up one spectacular exhibition.
The highlight of the show is the opening night gala on Friday, which features entertainment and catering for just $20. According to Tatura Rotarian Rhonda Rose, it’s a night not to be missed.
“Guest speaker Heather Ewart, who grew up in the Goulburn Valley and is now widely known for the ABC’s Backroads program, will officially open the show and share some of her story,” she said.
“This will be followed by Australian Opera’s Michael Lapina and colleagues, who will present a selection of favourite arias and songs from musical theatre.
“Victory Hall is ideal for this — the acoustics are wonderful, and the sound of this beautiful music in our 100-year-old hall is amazing.”
Unlike traditional art shows, the Tatura Rotary Art Show gives visitors the opportunity to be the judges, with all artwork judged by public vote rather than a professional panel.
This approach is welcomed by artists, who value feedback from the audience.
Last year, more than 1200 people attended the event, and this year the Tatura Rotary Club, which organises the show, is expecting an even bigger turnout.
“There will be about 400 pieces of art on display, all available for purchase,” Mrs Rose said.
“We feature all levels of experience — from highly accomplished artists who have held solo exhibitions to those just starting out.
“These artists come from near and far because our exhibition has a strong sales reputation.
“This year we’ve also included a small exhibition featuring work from local Tatura schools — it’ going to be a really big weekend.”
Adding to the weekend’s program, the Shepparton Sings community choir will perform on the Sunday afternoon.
A café will be running throughout the show, so visitors can enjoy a coffee or bite to eat as they wander through the exhibition.
So, if you’re looking for something to do or hoping to find the perfect piece to fill a space on your wall, this event has something for everyone.
“We get great feedback every year on how amazing the event is,” Mrs Rose said.
“A wonderful art display, great venue and atmosphere, and good coffee — just to name a few.
“The Tatura Rotary Club and the wider Tatura community would love to see you at the show.”
