Representing the Riverina region with pride and determination, Charlie played a key role in his team’s undefeated run throughout the tournament, showcasing both skill and sportsmanship.
The championships kicked off with a commanding start for Riverina on day one, as they secured two decisive wins - a 32-7 victory over Sydney North followed by a 46-18 triumph against MacKillop.
Day two saw the team continue their dominant form, overpowering Sydney East 36-11 and then delivering a staggering 94-0 win against Sydney West.
With four wins from four matches, Riverina sat atop their pool standings heading into the final day of competition.
Their momentum carried through into the playoffs, where they edged out the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) team in a thrilling 29-24 contest to earn a coveted place in the grand final.
In the championship match, Riverina once again rose to the occasion, defeating MacKillop 40-20 to claim the state title. The victory was a testament to the team’s cohesion, resilience and outstanding talent.
Charlie’s performance throughout the tournament was admirable, and his family and community at Tocumwal Public School have expressed how proud they are of his achievement.

A community consultation session for Berrigan Shire’s financial position will be held today (Wednesday) at the Tocumwal Library at 4.30pm.
Mayor Julia Cornwell McKean and senior staff will attend to provide an update on Berrigan Shire’s financial position and the actions being taken to protect the future of our community.
Topics will include the impact of rising costs and pressure on council reserves, a responsible new budget and operational plan, priority areas for improvement and an opportunity for the community to share what matters most to you.
