V/Line trains to travel slower during Thursday’s scorching temperatures

With another hot day set for Thursday, February 22, V/Line has activated its extreme heat timetables for the Shepparton line, among others.

The Shepparton line, along with the Geelong, Warrnambool, Ballarat, Ararat, Maryborough, Traralgon, and Bairnsdale lines, will operate under a full extreme heat timetable.

Passengers on the Albury Line should note that extreme heat timetables for this route are managed by the Australian Rail Track Corporation and are advised to check the V/Line website for specific service adjustments.

To facilitate travel plans during this period, passengers can download the extreme heat timetable from the V/Line website or pick up a copy at any staffed station.

Speed restrictions during extreme heat are a necessary safety measure, activated when temperatures rise above 36°C.

These restrictions are aimed at minimising the risk of train and track faults.

Extra travel time should be allowed for when planning journeys.

V/Line encourages passengers to carry bottled water and dress in light, comfortable clothing to stay cool during their journey.
