The Undera CFA station has celebrated its 75-year anniversary — see all the pictures from the evening.
Undera CFA celebrated its 75-year milestone as part of the CFA at the weekend.
The town was settled in 1875 and the fire station was built in 1947 — and has been part of the tiny community battling fires across the district ever since.
The station has more than 40 volunteers who have helped the town of 400 get by, and Mark Narayan, commander of CFA District 22, North East Region, said the station had an important position in the region.
“It is in a strategic location for our fires and to keep an eye on the overall things,” Mr Narayan said.
In 2013, the station was given a much-needed new shed.
“The new shed was built in 2013 and was very important in helping it be up to date with new equipment for the hard-working volunteers,” Mr Narayan said.
Mr Narayan, in conjunction with captain Colin Wilson, presented awards on Saturday night at the Undera Hotel, where a donation of $1000 was given to the station by publicans Jo Elliot and Jamie Worm.
“It was a great evening, and the publicans provided a beautiful meal and donated $1000 for the CFA, which is important, as this will go to helping the station get further safety equipment,” Mr Narayan said.
