The Seymour and District University of the Third Age recently celebrated the end of its 20th year of operation.
On Friday, November 28, the group came together for a joyous afternoon at Ken Pavilion Hall.
The guest speaker was Rod Bain, who brought with him the 2024 Melbourne Cup.
Mr Bain is the father of Cameron Bain, the owner of last year’s winning horse, Knight’s Choice.
Mr Bain regaled the rapt audience with the Seymour-linked story of how Knight’s Choice, very unexpectedly to most punters, win the iconic cup.
U3A members came appropriately dressed for the occasion and enjoyed a scrumptious afternoon tea in a flower-bedecked pavilion, while listening to Mr Bain’s account of the wonderful victory of Knight’s Choice.
Some of the members can now boast that they have had a sip of bubbly from the Melbourne Cup.
It was a happy afternoon to wind up 20 years of great activities of the U3A.
