Starting Tuesday, November 11, construction will begin at the intersection of Carroll Rd and Midland Hwy, focusing on installing large drainage pipes that will be connected to the existing pit at the entrance to Carroll Rd.
The upgrades are designed to improve water flow and mitigate flooding risks during heavy rainfall events.
Construction is expected to continue until mid-January 2026, taking about eight weeks to complete, depending on weather conditions.
Although Carroll Rd will remain open throughout this period, minor delays are expected, with traffic management measures in place to ensure safety.
Notably, access to Carroll Rd, which serves as a route for the Container Deposit Scheme depot and several businesses, will be adjusted from November 18 to 20, with a temporary entrance next to the existing one established for that duration.
After Friday, November 21, works will be located within the northern service road of the Midland Hwy.
Traffic flow and pedestrian access near the Carroll Rd and Midland Hwy intersection are not expected to be affected.
Road users and pedestrians are advised to take note of changed road conditions and follow all signage, detours and directions from traffic controllers during the works.
Greater Shepparton City Council said it apologised for any inconvenience caused and that it appreciated the community’s patience and understanding as these drainage improvements were undertaken.
