Tocumwal and surrounding electorate receives extra $43 million for roads

State Member for Murray Helen Dalton has welcomed increased education and road spending in the 2023 NSW budget.

“Three-hundred-and-six teachers and support staff will be upgraded from casual to permanent employment positions in Murray and that can only be a good thing,” Ms Dalton said.

Ms Dalton has also hailed the news of more spending on healthcare services and roads within the Murray area.

“It’s great to see over 1000 temporary nursing and midwife positions being made permanent, as well the recruiting of 1200 more nurses across the state, and 500 extra paramedics across regional New South Wales,” Ms Dalton said.

The Murray electorate will also see an extra $43 million to repair damaged roads throughout the area and cost of living relief for parents with three-year-olds in long day-care who will get $500 per child yearly in fee relief.

However, Ms Dalton wants more funding to help with housing across regional NSW despite an additional $70 million in the state budget to accelerate the delivery of social, affordable and private homes and $100 million for a housing infrastructure fund.

“Good start, but please do more,” Ms Dalton said.

“It’s just a drop in the ocean for what we need.”
