On Tuesday, November 25, and Wednesday, November 26, players visited local schools, the health service, Men’s Shed, and other local football clubs across the AFL North East Border region.
As part of the visit, Richmond also held a preseason training session at Yarrawonga’s JC Lowe Oval on Wednesday, November 26. The session was open to fans, who later enjoyed a player signing session and photo opportunity.
On Thursday, November 27, players took part in an Ambrose tournament at the Black Bull Golf Course, with the team of Jack Ross, Toby Nankervis, Hugo Ralphsmith and Blake Caracella winning. Some players also took the opportunity to go fishing on Lake Mulwala.
On Friday, November 28, the group headed to John Foord Oval in Corowa for a training session. Then in the afternoon they returned to Yarrawonga and jumped in canoes for a 10km paddle down the Murray River. The players were challenged with various tasks along the way, such as swapping positions in the canoe while on the water.
Richmond CEO Shane Dunne said the trip helped the club kick off the year with strong momentum.
“We know there are Richmond fans everywhere, particularly in the Yarrawonga and broader North East region,” he said.
“Connecting with these fans at schools and around the community during the week, as well as their presence at our open training, creates a great buzz.”
