Local fashion was flaunted, high tea was indulged and $1500 was handed over to a worthy cause at this year’s extra-highly-anticipated China & Lace event.

In the 24 hours after the event was announced, 55 tickets were sold.
“A lot of the local ladies do look forward to it every year,” Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn president Regina Young said.
“We have people coming from Melbourne, but the majority of the people there are locals supporting the Lions Club and supporting the cause.”
The fashion parade, or the ‘lace’ of the show, was made possible by donations from Shoppers Delight on Station St.
The high tea, with food curated by the hosting club and tea served traditionally, was delivered on china accumulated by the Lions over the years.
A standout was the cake decorating competition, which, Ms Young said, “everyone really loved because they didn’t know, until they were about to start, that they were being timed”.
Lions Club Zone 6 chair Iggy Abraham accepted a donation from the Seymour Goulburn club’s president on behalf of the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation.
Aside from the delicious eats and local apparel, the day had a meaningful purpose.
“This is one of our primary fundraisers of the year,” Ms Young said.
“This year, we chose the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation.
“We handed over a cheque at the event itself and that’ll go towards the research.”
Established in 2009, the foundation has so far raised more than $14 million to fund childhood cancer research.
Representing the foundation, Lions Club Zone 6 chair Iggy Abraham accepted the $1500 donation from the local club to go towards fighting the leading cause of disease-related death in Australian children.
The day would not have been possible without donations from Seymour’s businesses, with prizes handed over for the popular raffles – 2000 tickets for which were sold.
“This is the fourth time we’ve done it,” Ms Young said.
“It’s a very popular event that the Lions love doing because we have so much fun.”
