Goulburn Valley Grammar School Year 8 student Robbie Knowles has been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer in his spine that has affected his ability to walk.
Robbie’s sister Greta, who is in Year 4, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2021 and has since gone into remission after a two-year battle.
Parents Lauren and Bob Knowles are doing everything in their power to support Robbie and their other children through this difficult time.
Thankfully, they are not alone.
The Tatura community has rallied around the family, donating hampers, cooler bags and Easter chocolate to Tatura Primary School for one of its biggest ever Easter raffles as part of the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
On Wednesday, April 1, students arrived with a gold coin donation for ‘Wear Red for Robbie Day’, donning red clothes to make their support visible and participating in a lolly guessing competition.
Friend of the family Kate Wheelhouse recognised the significant strain the diagnosis put on the family and has started a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to support them.
