The event marked 10 years of his Movember fundraising efforts, aimed at turning the loss of his best friend into something positive.
In that time, Tyler has raised more than $30,000 for the annual mental health campaign, including $6632 this year alone.
Tyler’s T-Bro fundraisers have become a part of Benalla’s fabric, with many supporters looking forward to playing their part each November.
The T-Bro Movember campaign started in 2015 with a simple sausage sizzle that raised $200.
This led to another.
And another.
For five years, these fundraisers gained popularity in the Rose City.
However, when COVID hit, sausage sizzles were no longer possible, prompting Tyler to seek new ways to support Movember.
“It evolved into five years of selling raffle tickets,” he said.
This was made possible due to the support of many small businesses in Benalla and Shepparton, which Tyler now calls home.
Following advice from friends, he also began selling T-Bro merchandise, leading to an increase in fundraising.
“Ten years seems like it's gone in an eye blink,” Tyler said.
Despite the T-Bro campaign now wrapped up, Tyler said he would continue to support the cause.
“It’s fair to say my girlfriend, Tegan, and mum are going to be very happy that I don't have to go as hard,” he said.
“But I'll still grow the mo.
“I’ve got a few mates who do Movember, and a few I’ve inspired to do it.
“They come to me with their own struggles, and might say, ‘Hey, I've lost my brother to suicide or my best mate, like I did’.”
Tyler said he is always ready to offer advice.
“Movember is basically just a whole big conversation starter, and it’s important to have those conversations,” he said.
Tyler wished to thank all his “unreal” supporters and the businesses that have donated raffle prizes over the years.
