And this weekend, you can wander through a sea of vibrant yellow blooms reaching toward the sun.
For those who haven’t heard of Davies Family Farms, they are a fourth-generation, family-run farm currently owned by siblings Felice, Matthew, and Justin.
Over the years, the family has specialised in fruit and vegetables but has expanded into Christmas trees and, more recently, sunflower fields.
Co-owner Justin Davies said this would be their third year open to the public in Orrvale.
“The best thing about our sunflower field is entry is an optional gold coin,” Justin said.
“So, you can take your family out for a wonderful experience and the cost is very minimal, if at all.
“This is something we take great pride in.”
With around 300,000 sunflower seeds sown across approximately 0.3 of a hectare, visitors are guaranteed a spectacular display of yellow, along with designated walkways and plenty of great spots for photos.
And if you’re hoping to take one home, that’s an option too, with sunflowers available for purchase at the gate.
With hundreds of visitors expected this weekend, Davies Family Farms will open its sunflower fields from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday 24, Sunday 25, and Monday 26.
Depending on how long the flowers last, the fields may also be open the following weekend.
“While flowers are beautiful for most people, when you have a whole field of them in front of you, it really does give you a special feeling,” Justin said.
Make your way to 446 Midland Hwy, Orrvale and wander through a sea of sunflowers this weekend.
