On Monday, June 30, South Shepparton Centre will unveil its much anticipated art exhibition, showcasing the growing creative talents within the local community.
Eleven participants who have led workshops from March to May will proudly present their works on display, where visitors will have the chance to take them home through a silent auction.
“The project came about from a participant volunteer we had who was suffering from homelessness who we discovered had amazing talent at drawing and sketching,” South Shepparton Centre manager Melanie Domaschenz said.
“From that came the idea about doing an art project about uncovering artists in our neighbourhood.”
After the official opening on June 30, visitors can explore the exhibition until July 4.
Hands-on workshops will run concurrently, encouraging guests to participate or observe.
“We look forward to having them come and be a part of the centre, and seeing what people can do,” Ms Domaschenz said.
“It might inspire them to learn something new as well, or share their skills.”
The project was funded by Greater Shepparton City Council with a contribution of $5000, alongside Dyson Bus Line, which provided $4500 to ensure community members could participate free of charge.
