The city will host its first White Night on Saturday, June 25, with the sound and light festival previously visiting Geelong and Bendigo following its first instalment in Melbourne.
Local tourism, hospitality, accommodation and retail businesses are set to benefit from an influx of visitors, with the Victorian Government expecting a crowd of up to 30,000 to attend White Night Shepparton.
The Shepparton event will be the first White Night celebration for the year, with White Night Bendigo taking place on September 3 and White Night Geelong on October 8.
Tourism, Sport and Major Events Minister Martin Pakula said it would be a show-stopper for the region.
“White Night Shepparton will attract thousands of visitors to Shepparton for the event and provide a boost to the region’s tourism, hospitality and retail businesses,” he said.
“We back big events in regional Victoria because we know they boost local economies and support jobs.”
White Night Shepparton artistic director Andrew Walsh said he was excited for the event.
“White Night Shepperton will be surprising, delightful and exciting,” he said.
“On a cold night in June, rug up and venture into a world of the unexpected.”
