In light of National Skin Cancer Week (November 17 to 23) Greater Shepparton residents are being reminded to Slip, Slop, Slap to help prevent themselves developing a deadly melanoma.
Melanoma is expected to be the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer, with up to 1725 people expected to die from the disease this year.
Cancer Council Australia and the Australasian College of Dermatologists are urging all Australians to use the five key forms of sun protection:● slip on sun-protective clothing;● slop on SPF-30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen;● slap on a broad-brimmed hat;● seek shade;● slide on sunglasses;
A combination of these measures along with getting to know your skin and regularly checking for any changes are key prevention strategies.
