Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club hosted its annual awards last Saturday, with more than 120 people enjoying the laid-back country hospitality Shepparton is known for.

RSN’s Simone Fisher hosted the Shepparton Greyhound of the Year awards, with local, state and federal politicians and a contingent of local media attending.
Shae Van Taarling claimed the first gong of the night, bestowed with the Youth Encouragement Award due to her willingness to pitch in and help the club out with any job — big or small — without being asked or directed to.
Michael Carter was crowned Shepparton Trainer of the Year shortly afterwards, while five club stalwarts — Sandra McGrath, Tony McGrath, Terry Tremellen, Ross Tremellen and Hugh Bonderenko — were made life members of the club.
Those attending heard a few stories from the past by local legends, who have all contributed to greyhound racing in the region and are all well known for their tireless work to make the club what it is today.
All Inn Mishap was named Shepparton Greyhound of the Year and trainer Tony Duncan was absolutely stoked to receive the award.
Greyhound Racing Victoria board member Marika McMahon spoke highly of the wonderful work, on and off of the track, which is happening at Shepparton and throughout regional Victorian greyhound clubs.
Peter Bartlett was presented the Staff Appreciation Award, he is another who continually gets in and helps out at the club when required.
The fastest greyhound awards for the season went to Gotta Bandit (390m), Charmed An Taken (450m) and Pepper Shiraz (650m).
