Each year, the day focuses on a different country, and this year the program has been prepared by women in Nigeria.
The theme for this year is ‘I Will Give You Rest: Come’ (Matthew 11:28-30), inviting everyone to find peace and renewal through faith in God.
The service includes prayers, songs, Bible readings, as well as a guest speaker from Nigeria who will talk about their life and experiences.
The World Day of Prayer is open to everyone, regardless of faith, and offers a chance to learn about the lives, hopes and challenges of women from another part of the world.
Prayers are offered in native languages and link communities across continents — from Africa and Asia to the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
In Shepparton, the service will be held at St Mel’s Church, 18 Hamilton St, starting at 10.30am.
Everyone is welcome — men and women alike — and refreshments will be served afterwards, offering a chance to chat, connect and reflect.
The World Day of Prayer is celebrated in over 170 countries every year to pray, support each other and take action for peace and justice.
