His action-packed life was celebrated by family, friends, and the hundreds of people Mr Ritchie had impacted along in his journey from learning to box in a Shepparton backyard gym to a state, national and world youth title-holder.
A proud Yorta Yorta man, Mr Ritchie's culture was front and centre with an Aboriginal flag draped over his casket, while Graham ‘Cannon’ Briggs delivered the welcome to country with didgeridoo in hand.
Mr Briggs touched on a "tough month" for the Yorta Yorta nation in which many "elders and legends" had died, and referenced Mr Ritchie's background as having fighting in his blood.
Uncle Brett Packer performed Amazing Grace, while Mr Ritchie's family chose Coloured Stone's Black Boy to be played to facilitate a moment of reflection.
After Mr Ritchie's siblings spoke of looking up to their older brother, his sister Shonelle Ritchie performed a moving eulogy to honour the fallen champion.
“Dwight put his family above everything, and (partner) Samara and his children were his world,” she said.
“Humble, hilarious and invincible are the words I've constantly been hearing when used to describe my brother.
“But the words written here can't even come close to doing justice for Dwight, and what he meant to people. He truly left his mark and will be in our hearts forever.”
The impact Mr Ritchie had made on people was not hard to see; the centre was full by 12.45 pm and overflowing by 1 pm, illustrating the huge number of people the boxer had touched in his 27 years.
Mr Ritchie was remembered as a caring young man and a great role model, and someone who packed more into his 27 years than most would in a lifetime.
Some in attendance wore suits and ties but many wore T-shirts emblazoned with the name of the man they were representing — "Team Ritchie".
In attendance was champion Australian boxer Michael Zerafa, who was sparring with Mr Ritchie when he tragically collapsed.
The funeral gathering travelled to Pine Lodge Cemetery for a committal service, before continuing the celebration at Kialla's Peppermill Inn.
