The shelter is at capacity, and with school holidays approaching, adoption fees have been reduced to $50 from Wednesday, April 1 to Thursday, April 30 for cats over 12 months old. Kittens will remain full price.
Greater Shepparton City Council manager environment Sharon Terry is encouraging community members to consider adopting a cat or kitten this April.
“Cats make wonderful companions for people of all ages,” she said.
“It is important to remember that adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment requiring care and responsibility.
“Adopting not only changes the life of the cat you adopt, it also helps the shelter to have more space to receive animals in need.”
All cats have been vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas and are ready to be taken home right away — with a suitable pet carrier. Carriers are available for purchase at the shelter if needed.
For more information, visit council’s website to view the available cats and complete the online pet adoption questionnaire before attending the shelter.
