Tracy McCluskey was the guest speaker at the recent Finley Garden Lovers Club meeting.
One of the attractions of belonging to the Finley Garden Lovers Club is the variety of guest presenters and demonstrators.
These are outstanding, no more so than Tracy McCluskey, owner of ‘Tin & Mud’, who was Guest Speaker at the August 4 meeting.
Tracy creates little bird houses, wall plaques, bowls, tiny houses and garden art that combines both her passions.
She gave an interesting demonstration of how she uses items from the home to decorate her objects.
Club members were fascinated when Tracy rolled out a ball of light-coloured clay and proceeded to roll an old doily into it to create a striking pattern.
“Don’t hesitate to use hessian or other plastic print,” she explained.
“Cut with biscuit cutters, make patterns with other cutlery and bakeware. Think outside the box.”
Tracy has worked with clay, enjoying making pottery for over 39 years, having first done a course under Shirley Pallett in Finley.
She is excited to be having her studio open in Barooga this Saturday, August 16 as part of the Community River Arts first Open Artist Studio Trail.
Further information can be obtained by going to the Community River Arts Inc. Facebook page.
Finley Garden Club member Christine Macdermid will have her beautiful art on display at Wood’n That in Barooga, and Finley’s Cherilyn Taig will be demonstrating mosaics at Fiona Hackett’s studio, Expressive Art Creations, in Cobram.
Various venues offer morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea so be sure to take advantage of a great day out.

The Catholic parishes of Finley, Tocumwal and Jerilderie welcomed Fr Prasanth Mary Das IVD over last weekend, following the appointment of Fr Paul Lu to Yoogali, Hanwood and Yenda.
Fr Prasanth is originally from the region of Kerala in Southern India, and has only been in Australia for a short period of time. He was with St Patrick’s in Albury.
He is pleased to have been appointed administrator for the three parishes, and is looking forward to meeting as many members of the communities as possible.

Members of Finley Lions Club seem to be settling well into their temporary location for selling tickets in the weekly wood raffle.
They are always ready to have a chat and make everyone feel welcome.
Rowan Begg was the lucky winner of last Saturday’s trailer load of wood.
