Year 1 teacher Sarah Wollington received the Teaching Excellence Award which celebrates excellence in literacy leadership and impact on student outcomes.
Sharon Powell, the school’s Compliance and Administration Officer, was honoured with the Award for Excellence in Allied Service, recognising excellence in operational leadership and support of educational mission.
Both recipients were thrilled to be announced as winners in their respective categories.
The awards mark the first time the Catholic Education Sandhurst community has come together to formally celebrate excellence across its 51 schools and six early learning centres, spanning a region from Cohuna to Corryong, and from the Murray River through to Heathcote and Bright.
Almost 300 educators, students and parents were in attendance, with the red carpet rolled out to honour individuals and teams who embody the mission and values of Catholic education.
Sacred Heart principal Jarrod Mullavey, who nominated several staff members across various categories, said he was delighted to see Sarah and Sharon recognised at such a significant event.
“We are incredibly proud of both Sarah and Sharon,” Mr Mullavey said.
“Their commitment to their roles, their professionalism, and the care they show our students and community every day are truly inspiring.
“For them to be acknowledged among so many dedicated educators across the diocese is a wonderful achievement.”
Catholic Education Sandhurst executive director Kate Fogarty described the awards as a celebration not only of individual excellence but of a collective commitment to learning, faith and community.
“This is a day of celebration—not only for the remarkable individuals we honour, but for the collective journey we have taken as a Catholic education community,” Ms Fogarty said.
She highlighted Magnify Sandhurst, a system-wide initiative introduced this year, as a transformative force in strengthening connections and enhancing learning across the diocese.
“Our schools are stronger, more connected, and better equipped to meet the needs of every learner,” she said.
“Behind every student story is a network of dedicated educators—teachers who inspire; support staff who enable; leaders who create environments where every child can flourish.”
Sacred Heart expresses its deep gratitude for the recognition of two exceptional staff members whose work reflects the values and mission of Catholic education.
The school community is proud to celebrate Sarah and Sharon and looks forward to continuing its commitment to excellence in teaching, service and student wellbeing.
