The upgrades will occur between September and December this year with the installation of red, green and white speed signs at the entrance to the town.
Tatura is one of 44 towns receiving upgrades by the end of the year, joining 170 other towns which have been part of the state government's $1.4 billion push to reduce statewide road trauma.
Roads and Road Safety Minister Ben Carroll said the road markings and striking speed signs at town entrances provided a strong visual reminder to drivers they needed to slow down.
“We're delivering these community gateways to ensure more Victorians make it home safely every day – boosting the safety of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians right across the state,” Mr Carroll said.
“Through our investment in better safety infrastructure – and more broadly through Victoria’s Road Safety Strategy – we’re taking action to increase awareness and visibility on our roads.”
Tatura will be following Violet Town, Euroa and Strathmerton in receiving the safety gateways.
