Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson Peter Blank said people in Shepparton would see an increase in rainfall as today progressed.
“The peak of rain is going to be over the north-eastern district of Victoria, there could be up to 100 mm,” he said.
“The heaviest time the rain will fall in Shepparton will be this afternoon and going into tonight.”
Mr Blank said BOM had issued a severe weather warning for heavy rainfall, especially in fire-affected areas.
“There’s debris danger so people should take care of that too,” he said.
“We have a 24 to 30-hour rainfall possibility.
“For fruit growers, there’s a brown rot warning as a result of the high humidity and rainfall.
“There are no flood warnings as of yet, but it’s likely flood advice will be put out today.”
The rain is expected to clear out during lunchtime tomorrow.
