A spot for good coffee and fresh food has opened up in the Munarra Centre, an award-winning building in the heart of Shepparton’s sporting precinct.

Munarra Cafe owner Jismon Thomas has been working in the hospitality industry for 20 years and leapt at the chance to start his own business, describing the location as “a good place to start”.
It’s early days and Mr Thomas hopes to get the word out there that there is a cafe on site that is open to all with staff who make delicious coffee.
“Those who find it say that it’s a hidden place,” Mr Thomas said.
Munarra Cafe offers a good selection of sandwiches on Turkish bread and paninis, including pulled pork, barbecue beef, spicy chicken and Mediterranean lamb.
Catering is also available for businesses and community events.
“It’s a beautiful place with good ambience,” Mr Thomas said.
Mr Thomas said he had always appreciated the atmosphere at the now closed Billabong cafe, where older women would meet for coffee and enjoy their time sitting outside.
He said he hoped to create a similar feel, and wished to see the local disability community there too.
“I want to make sure they will all be happy,” Mr Thomas said.
An upgrade is scheduled for the kitchen, which the cafe will use to create grab-and-go high-protein meals during the upcoming sporting season.
Munarra Cafe is open Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 3.30pm, with additional hours around afternoon sporting events.
The new Munarra Cafe has plenty of seating both inside and outside.
