The biennial car event, run by the Mild2Wild Rod and Custom Club, is being hosted at Tocumwal on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 10-12.
The family-friendly event will involve car lovers from across the area and beyond bringing their pre-1965 cars to showcase to the general public.
Club president David Baldwin said one of the main highlights would include an Observation Run on Saturday, March 11 which commences at the Mild2Wild clubrooms and concludes at the ‘Drome Cafe’ at the Tocumwal Aerodrome.
Classic: There will be some amazing vehicles to see at the Murray River Rod Run.
The run is designed to not only allow the public to see the cars but also to allow drivers to enjoy the Tocumwal surroundings and answer questionnaires on local landmarks.
“Participants get to look at local attractions,” Mr Baldwin said.
At 6pm on Saturday, the Tocumwal main street will be closed to allow entrants to parade their cars.
There will be live music and food trucks that will cater to everyone’s tastes.
Mr Baldwin encourages the public to come along to see the cars in action.
“Bring yourselves a chair and sit back and enjoy.”
The Murray River Rod Run concludes on Sunday, March 12 at the Tocumwal Recreation Reserve with a show ‘n’ shine event in which participants vote on their favourite cars before the gates are thrown open to the public at 5pm.
“The various participants get to vote on the top cars at the show ‘n’ shine.”
Food trucks will be available for attendees and live entertainment will be provided by the Pacific Belles and Elvis Forever groups.
Mr Baldwin said that children would also be well-catered-for at the reserve with jumping castles and a mechanical bull ride.
He said attendees could look forward to a relaxed evening with a festive atmosphere. He urged anyone interested to come to the free community event.
“Bring your family and friends, it’s a great night. See the cars under lights up close ... and enjoy the awesome entertainment.”
