Numurkah Rotary Club Art Show chairperson Christine Sutton said organisers were excited to be hosting the 46th annual show and were grateful for all the support they had received.
“It’s a much-loved art show,” she said.
“All our proceeds from this year’s exhibition will be going to the local bushfire recovery, which is certainly something that is front of mind.”
Ms Sutton said the show had lots to look at, from photography and art to multimedia works and crafts.
“We also have refreshments and an area in the supper rooms where you can sit ... so people can make a day out of it, which is really nice,” she said.
Ms Sutton said they had special awards to encourage regional and developing artists.
“We really appreciate the following of particularly our local artists who have been putting things in for years,” she said.
“We have over $10,000 worth of prizes, some are cash prizes or their acquisition prizes, so the artists will actually sell their pictures.
“There are also a few regional awards on offer for artists, including the Ken Davis Regional Artist Award for people who live within 100km of Numurkah and the CAN Hub Encouragement Award for people who live in Moira Shire.”
The show’s opening night is on Friday, March 6 from 7pm at the Numurkah Town Hall and will feature entertainment from the Cobram Anglican Grammar School instrumental students.
The art judge for this year’s show is former local Joan Erickson, the photography judge is Shepperton Camera Club member Lee Teeth and the crafts judge is Numurkah Secondary College textile teacher Claire Reed.
“We've also got some quite accomplished artists who support us every year,” Ms Sutton said.
“Renowned watercolour painter Ross Paterson, who is a beautiful painter, and we’ve also got a young watercolour artist who supported us last year for the first time and is highly successful, Nina Volk.”
Ms Sutton said the show was a great opportunity for the community to come together and appreciate regional art.
“It’s just a lovely vibe and a lovely community event,” she said.
The Numurkah Art and Craft Exhibition will be held at the Numurkah Town Hall from Friday, March 6 until Monday, March 9.
